Gronk: Spike was ode to ‘that little nutcracker dude'

Share

It was Gronk's salute to British royalty . . we think.

"That little nutcracker dude that's guarding the house," he replied when asked just who he was trying to imitate with his robot-like march, then hellacious spike, after the first of his two touchdown receptions in the Patriots' 45-7 win over the Rams Sunday in London. "I like how he just sits there and stays still. It's pretty cool."

That little nutcracker dude that's guarding the house? Hmm. The Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace, that sounds like.

Right, Tom Brady?

"I don't know what the hell he was doing on that first one," the quarterback said with a smile. "Yeah, he needs some work on that."

"He's always coming up with something," added Vince Wilfork with a laugh.

But Gronk isn't taking bows for this one.
"I give that one credit to Chandler Jones," he confessed. "He told me to do it."
