Fantasy football Week 4 waiver wire: What's Wayne Gallman's ceiling?

Share

Injuries are a fact of life in the NFL, and Saquon Barkley was the most notable Week 3 victim.

But fantasy football owners have another obstacle on their plate in Week 4: The first bye weeks.

Only the New York Jets and San Francisco Giants are off this week, but Le'Veon Bell and George Kittle owners can't just leave those positions blank, and unfortunate Barkley owners will be in the market for a replacement.

That's why we've got you covered with the best waiver wire pickups at each position. Here's the cream of the crop for Week 4.

QUARTERBACK

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (owned in 51 percent of Yahoo! leagues): Stafford's stock is trending down after his one-touchdown effort in Week 3, but we expect high volume in a potential shoot-out against the Kansas City Chiefs. Stafford is one of the safer bets you'll find on the waiver wire this week.

Other quarterbacks to target: Kyle Allen (CAR), Andy Dalton (CIN), Mitchell Trubisky (CHI)

RUNNING BACK

Wayne Gallman, New York Giants (8 percent owned): Gallman is this week's obvious running back pickup as the handcuff to injured Giants star Saquon Barkley. He's no RB1, but Gallman averages 4.0 yards per carry in his career and has 51 receptions in 31 career games. He should see a decent share of touches in New York's offense and is worth a FLEX start in Week 4 against the shaky Washington Redskins defense.

Other running backs to target: Darrel Williams (KC), Ronald Jones (TB), Rex Burkhead (NE)

WIDE RECEIVER

Phillip Dorsett, New England Patriots (33 percent owned): Guess who leads the Patriots in touchdown receptions and is tied for second in receptions? That'd be Dorsett, who's quietly emerged as a Tom Brady trusted target. With Antonio Brown out of the picture and Julian Edelman nursing a rib injury, Dorsett could see a solid share of targets in Week 4 and beyond.

Other running backs to target: Diontae Johnson (PIT), Kenny Stills (HOU), Cole Beasley (BUF)

TIGHT END

Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks (46 percent owned): With 11 receptions, 112 yards and three touchdowns in his last two games, Dissly looks like a legitimate part of this Seahawks offense. He also gets an awesome matchup in the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. This is a no-brainer pickup for George Kittle owners.

Other defenses to target: Jimmy Graham (GB), Eric Ebron (IND)

DEFENSE

Pittsburgh Steelers (19 percent owned): Yes, the 0-3 Steelers should be started in fantasy this week. Why? Because they've forced seven turnovers in the last two weeks and get the turnover-happy Cincinnati Bengals, who also have coughed up the ball seven times this season.

Other defenses to target: Indianapolis (vs. OAK), Denver (vs. JAX), Carolina (at HOU)
