Duron Harmon gives heartfelt goodbye to Patriots fans after trade to Lions

Duron Harmon's career with the New England Patriots is over, and he has a parting message for fans of the six-time Super Bowl champions.

The Patriots traded Harmon and a 2020 seventh-round draft pick to the Detroit Lions on Wednesday in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick. The benefit of the trade from New England's perspective is it clears about $4 million in salary cap space.

Harmon posted a heartfelt goodbye Thursday on Instagram in which he thanked the Patriots and the fans for all of their support.

Harmon spent seven seasons with the Patriots and won three Super Bowl titles as a valuable member of head coach Bill Belichick's defense.

The veteran safety is one of three Patriots players from the 2019 season who have joined the Lions in recent days. Linebacker Jamie Collins and defensive lineman Danny Shelton both reportedly agreed to sign with Detroit earlier this week.
