Josh McDaniels has ‘no idea' if Tom Brady will attend OTAs but trusts QB ‘completely'

Josh McDaniels is excited to work alongside Tom Brady for another NFL season ... whenever he shows up.

The New England Patriots offensive coordinator was asked Friday if he expects Brady to attend the team's voluntary organized team activities, which begin May 20.

"I have no idea," McDaniels responded.

We'll answer for him: The Patriots quarterback is expected to skip OTAs for the second consecutive season. But McDaniels, who is entering his eighth consecutive season working alongside Brady, doesn't seem to mind one way or the other.

"When he's here I'll be happy to see him," McDaniels said of Brady. "I trust completely what he's doing. I'm sure he's in good shape, good condition, and preparing for the year."

McDaniels added he doesn't believe it's his place to question the offseason plans of his 41-year-old QB.

"I haven't really pinned that question on him, and I don't think it's really my responsibility to do that," McDaniels said. "I know he's working his butt off, and he'll be ready."

Brady's absence from OTAs didn't seem to affect the Patriots last season, as the veteran QB guided New England to a sixth Super Bowl title. Brady and McDaniels have a few new faces to integrate into the offense this year, including rookie wide receiver N'Keal Harry, new tight ends Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Ben Watson and rookie offensive linemen Yodny Cajuste and Hjalte Froholt.

As was the case in 2018, though, it appears the full group won't be together until mandatory minicamp in June.
