The New England Patriots announced several roster transactions Tuesday as they prepare for Sunday's AFC divisional round playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Here's a summary of the moves.

--Tight end Stephen Anderson signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad
--Defensive back A.J. Howard and offensive tackle Dan Skipper signed to the practice squad
--Tight end Jacob Hollister was placed on injured reserve

Hollister missed seven games due to injury and one as a healthy scratch during the regular season. His season is now over as a result of being placed on injured reserve.

Anderson likely will serve as the No. 3 tight end on the depth chart behind Rob Gronkowski and Dwayne Allen. He tallied 25 receptions for 342 yards and one touchdown with the Houston Texans last season.

The Patriots host the Chargers on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
