Isaiah Wynn injury: Patriots OL's turf toe not season-ending, per report

Isaiah Wynn injury: Patriots OL's turf toe not season-ending, per report

The bad news: The New England Patriots continue to sustain injuries on their offensive line.

The good news: The severity of these injuries could be worse.

Patriots offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn is "week-to-week" with turf toe he suffered Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

Wynn exited Sunday's 43-0 win with an apparent foot injury, and an MRI on Monday revealed a toe ailment. The Patriots also were without starting right tackle Marcus Cannon (shoulder) in that game, while center David Andrews is out for the season.

It sounds like Cannon may be ready for Week 3, though, and Wynn isn't expected to miss the rest of the season.

Still, New England has taken action by signing four offensive linemen over the past two weeks: Korey Cunningham, Jermaine Eluemunor, Marshall Newhouse and Caleb Benenoch, who reportedly will join the Patriots on Tuesday.

Newhouse started at right tackle Sunday in Cannon's absence, while Cunningham replaced Wynn at left tackle. If Wynn, who missed his entire rookie season due to a torn Achilles, can't play in Week 3 against the New York Jets, Cunningham or Benenoch could get the nod.

NFL Rumors: OL Caleb Benenoch chooses Patriots in free agency

NFL Rumors: OL Caleb Benenoch chooses Patriots in free agency

The New England Patriots have become the hot new destination for free-agent offensive linemen.

Veteran offensive tackle Caleb Benenoch will sign with the Patriots on Tuesday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports. Per Rapoport, Benenoch actively sought out New England because he wanted to play for longtime offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia.

The Buccaneers drafted Benonoch in the fifth round out of UCLA in 2016, and he spent his previous three seasons in Tampa Bay before his release last Tuesday.

The versatile offensive lineman started all 16 games at right guard for the Bucs last season but has played every offensive line position but center over his 32-game career to date, which includes 22 starts.

The Patriots could use that versatility; center David Andrews already is out for the season, while right tackle Marcus Cannon missed Week 2 with a shoulder injury and Isaiah Wynn suffered a toe injury Sunday.

Benonoch becomes the fourth offensive lineman New England has signed since the season began, joining Korey Cunningham, Jermaine Eluemunor and Marshall Newhouse. The Patriots also traded for Buffalo Bills center Russell Bodine but released him days later.
