Report: Gronk told Pats he'd retire if they traded him

Months ago, NBC Sports Boston reported that, while there had been trade talks involving Rob Gronkowski between the Patriots and other NFL teams, the chances of Gronk being dealt evaporated after a meeting between the tight end and coach Bill Belichick. On Sunday, we may have found out the reason why:

According to Rapoport, Gronkowski said  "that he would rather step away from football and retire than play for another team, coach or quarterback. He told people close to him that he only wants to catch passes from Tom Brady."

And Tom E. Curran adds another intriguing reason why a Gronk trade never came off . . .
