Three months after being shot in the Dominican Republic, a healthy David Ortiz made his much-anticipated return to Fenway Park.
The Red Sox legend threw out the ceremonial first pitch to former teammate Jason Varitek prior to Monday night's game vs. the Yankees and was greeted with a thunderous ovation from the Boston crowd. It was his first public appearance since the June shooting.
Ortiz followed his first pitch with a speech, thanking all those who supported him.

Ortiz left Massachusetts General Hospital at the end of July and has been recovering at his home since. Red Sox manager Alex Cora recently visited his former teammate and said he's "in a good place." Yankees sluggers Gary Sanchez and Edwin Encarnacion paid a visit to Big Papi as well over the weekend.
Following what was a scary couple of months for Ortiz, it's great to see the beloved three-time World Series champion in good spirits and back in front of the Fenway crowd where he belongs.
