David Price could be nearing a return the mound as he plans to throw a bullpen session Sunday, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
The southpaw went to the injured list Monday with elbow tendinitis but could end up making a start during the Red Sox series with the Colorado Rockies, which begins on Tuesday.
If all goes well during his bullpen session, Price will be able to build on his strong start to 2019 and rejoin a pitching staff that has been dominant lately.
Hector Velazquez is expected to start Sunday while Chris Sale will take the mound on Tuesday. The Red Sox have yet to name a starter for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, so it seems like a good place to slot Price in if his bullpen session goes well.
If he doesn't return against the Rockies, Boston begins a series with the Astros on Friday.
