Mitch Moreland recalls putting Kevin Pillar in headlock during Rangers-Blue Jays brawl

One of the most memorable baseball brawls of the last decade was the 2016 dust-up between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.

While Rougned Odor and Jose Bautista took center stage, Mitch Moreland was in the background putting Kevin Pillar into a headlock. Four years later, Moreland and Pillar are Boston Red Sox teammates.

Moreland reflected on that headlock in a conversation with WEEI.com's Rob Bradford.

"KP came running in there wide open and I was like, ‘This dude looks crazy like he’s trying to go get somebody. I have to slow him down.’ Then I looked up and I was like, ‘Oh man, that’s Pillar.’ You talk to guys over at first (base) and I liked this guy," Moreland said.

"We just hugged it out a little bit. Then when let go of him he looked up, looked at me and we shook it off and went back into the pile. We talked about in spring training. He said he has a good picture of it at home."

Sounds like the two are on good terms four years after the brawl. As for Odor and Bautista, that may be a different story.
