Will the Boston Red Sox sign Corey Kluber this offseason? It appears they're still considering it, and we may have more clarity by next week.
The free-agent right-hander is set to throw in front of a handful of major league teams on Jan. 13 in Florida, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Tuesday. Morosi implied the Red Sox, who are "among the teams with interest" in Kluber, will be there.
Kluber has an outstanding track record as a three-time All-Star and two time Cy Young award winner during his nine seasons with the Cleveland Indians. He's suffered two serious arm injuries since 2019, though, and has started a total of eight games over the last two years.

The 34-year-old will attempt to prove to teams in Florida that he's still serviceable after pitching just one inning in 2020. He posted a 20-win campaign in 2018 with a 2.89 ERA over 215 innings, so there's plenty of reason for teams to be interested.
The Red Sox are a logical suitor for Kluber, as they desperately need rotation help but don't seem willing to pay top dollar to elite options like reigning Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer. While Kluber's age and injury history are obvious red flags, they'll also drive down his price tag to what could be a bargain rate if he's able to get healthy.
Boston hasn't done much on the free-agent pitcher front this offseason, but they should have a good read on Kluber after next week's workout.
