With all the success this Red Sox team experienced last year and the heavy presence of veterans in the starting rotation, it's easy to forget just how young the team's core is.
Mookie Betts just won his first MVP at the age of 25, Andrew Benintendi is one of the more consistent hitters on the team at 24 and they have one of the top shortstops in the game in 26-year-old Xander Bogaerts. You could even include 23-year-old Michael Chavis in that group.
None are younger than third baseman Rafael Devers, who became the second Red Sox player since 1908 to record three straight three-hit games at the age of 22 or younger Sunday against the Mariners. The other to do it was Bogaerts in 2014.
Devers went 3-for-5 with four RBI's Friday, 3-for-4 on Saturday and 3-for-5 again on Sunday as he gave Mariners pitchers fits all weekend long. The 22-year-old is now hitting .336/.408/.456 on the year with two home runs and 21 RBI.
After Bogaerts accomplished the same feat in 2014, he had a break-out season in 2015 by winning his first Silver Slugger. Could Devers be in the middle of a similar break-out?

There's no way to know this early in the year, but so far Devers has made a substantial jump from last year's .240/.298/.433 slash line.
