Kevin Plawecki is staying in Boston.
The 30-year-old catcher has avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract with the Red Sox, the team announced Wednesday. The Boston Globe's Alex Speier reported the contract is worth $2.25 million.
Plawecki hit .287 with three home runs and 15 RBI over 64 games as Boston's backup catcher last season. It was his second year with the Red Sox.

The Red Sox have been pretty quiet in MLB free agency so far. Their only notable outside additions have been left-handed pitcher James Paxton and right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha.
