Dalbec makes history as homer streak continues

John Tomase and Lou Merloni debate whether or not the Red Sox would actually deserve the #1 draft pick in 2021 after a disastrous 60-game season

Bobby Dalbec's remarkably hot start to his MLB career continued Thursday night as he homered for the fifth straight game.

Dalbec went oppo in the fifth inning vs. the Tampa Bay Rays to keep the streak going with the sixth homer of his first 10 big-league games.

With that home run, the 25-year-old made history.

Dalbec joined Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story (7), Cincinnati Reds outfielder Aristides Aquino (7), former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Dino Restelli and Seattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis as the only players in MLB's modern era to hit at least six homers through their first 10 games.

On top of that, Dalbec also became the first player ever to notch a five-game homer streak in the first 10 games of an MLB career.

There hasn't been much to cheer about in Boston this season, but Dalbec's captivating streak has at least given the Red Sox one interesting storyline as their disastrous 2020 campaign winds down.

Dalbec will look to extend his home run streak to six games on Friday night when the Red Sox take on left-hander Blake Snell and the Rays.
