The Boston Red Sox will turn to the reliable Nathan Eovaldi to start Sunday's Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.
The Sox enter Friday night's Game 2 trailing the series 1-0 after being shutout 5-0 in Thursday night's Game 1 at Tropicana Field. Eduardo Rodriguez lasted just 1 2/3 innings in the series opener. Chris Sale will take the mound to begin Game 2.
Eovaldi last pitched in the AL Wild Card Game against the rival New York Yankees on Tuesday. He gave up just four hits and one earned run over 5 1/3 innings as the Red Sox eliminated the Yankees with a 6-2 victory.
Eovaldi has a 1.63 ERA in seven career postseason appearances.
