Report: Sox have ‘serious interest' in former All-Star RHP

Priority number one for Chaim Bloom and the Red Sox this offseason is finding more starting pitching.

So, Red Sox fans, how would you feel about a 30-year-old who won 15 games with a 3.51 ERA in his last full season in 2019? How about one who's well acquainted with the AL East, having spent five seasons in the division and his entire career in the American League?

Jake Odorizzi checks both of those boxes -- and the Red Sox have "serious interest" in the him, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

The righty would slot in right near the top of the Red Sox rotation in 2021, especially with Chris Sale only a year removed from Tommy John surgery and Eduardo Rodriguez coming back after dealing with COVID-19 and myocarditis last season.

Here's what contract Odorizzi is reportedly seeking in free agency

Odorizzi was named an All-Star in 2019 when he struck out a career-high 178 in 159 innings (30 starts) for the Twins, but he was only able to make four starts in an injury-plagued 2020 season in Minnesota.

The Sox have reportedly been interested in Odorizzi throughout the offseason -- and our own John Tomase recently predicted that Odorizzi would land in Boston when the free agency dust settled.
