Christian McCaffrey etched his name into the NFL record books on Sunday.

McCaffrey, the Panthers 22-year-old running back, broke the NFL record for receptions by a running back in a single season. On his ninth reception against the Falcons, McCaffrey surpassed former-Bears running back Matt Forte's previous record of 102 receptions, which Forte set in 2014.

“That's great, good for him. He's got the record. I'm just glad I'm in the 100-catch zone," Forte said to NBC Sports Chicago. "A lot of great names, Larry Centers, LaDainian Tomlinson and myself.

"Great job by him. Christian, congratulations, you got the record now. I held it down for a couple years, three or four years. But you got it now.”

McCaffrey finished the day with 12 catches, extending the record to 106. With one game remaining, McCaffrey has a chance to further extend the record when the Panthers take on the Saints next Sunday.
