Watch Justin Fields' first pregame speech as starter

It's a new era of football for the Chicago Bears. Rookie quarterback Justin Fields is getting his first NFL start because of an injury to Andy Dalton, and if he plays well he could keep the role long term.

But that also means ascending as the leader of the team, and before the team went out on the field he delivered his first pregame speech as the starter.

"Hey, y'all know what today is. All the work we've put in this week, it's time," Fields said. "All we gotta do is simple. Go out there and do what we do. We ain't gotta do nothing more or nothing less. Go out there and execute like we know how to execute.

"Let's play ball."

No one is going to put Fields in the same category as Ray Lewis when it comes to pep talks, yet anyways.

It's also pretty cool to see the veteran Nick Foles, promoted to back up with the same injury to Dalton, right there along side Fields.

Justin Fields first drive was five plays for 24 yards and ended in a field goal. There were three designed run plays for David Montgomery and a Fields scramble for seven yards.

That drive gave the Bears an early lead, so all-in-all, things got off to a good start.
