Terps going retro for showdown with Georgetown

Tuesday night marks the first time Maryland will host Georgetown in College Park since 1973.

So excuse the Terps for going all out with the nostalgia.

Tuesday morning, the Terps tweeted out a picture of the retro uniforms they'll wear against the Hoyas, and the duds are pretty sweet.

But no retro wear was quite as groovy as the ones Mark Turgeon and a handful of Maryland players donned to recreate a team photo from the 70s, which the Terps tweeted out Monday.

Swinging, indeed.

Maryland and Georgetown played every season for nearly 30 years, from 1947 to 1976, but that rivalry went by the wayside a bit and meetings have been few and far between since, with the teams meeting just three times since the 1979-80 season. Two of those games have come in this century, a neutral-site game in Florida in 2008 and an NCAA tournament game in California in 2001.

Tuesday night's game tips off at 8 p.m.
