Blackhawks will loan Dach to Team Canada for World Juniors

Blackhawks center Kirby Dach has been added to Team Canada's camp roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. The 47-man roster was unveiled on Thursday, featuring 27 forwards, 15 defensemen and five goaltenders.

The selection camp will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 13 before the team enters the bubble in Edmonton to prepare for the actual tournament, which runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

The NHL is targeting a Jan. 1 start date for the 2020-21 season, which would obviously overlap with the World Juniors. The Blackhawks are prepared for such a scenario.

If the league starts on time, Dach is expected to return to Chicago. If not, he will remain with Team Canada and return to the Blackhawks when the tournament ends — or, whenever the season starts.

Dach, 19, registered 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 64 games during his rookie season with the Blackhawks. He added six points (one goal, five assists) in nine postseason contests, where he ranked second among team forwards with 19:24 of ice time.
