Report: Bulls flip Gafford, Hutchison for Brown, Wagner

The Bulls already made the biggest splash of trade deadline day with the acquisition of Nikola Vučević from the Orlando Magic. But they're not done just yet.

The Bulls are also acquiring Troy Brown Jr. and Mo Wagner from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Daniel Gafford and Chandler Hutchison, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday morning.

Brown was the Wizards' 15th overall pick in 2018, but never carved out a consistent role and saw his playing time rapidly diminish with the drafting of Deni Avdija. A 6-foot-6 wing player, he comes billed as a solid perimeter defender and is due $5.2 million next season, the last of his rookie contract. He's averaged 7.4 points and shot 33 percent from 3-point range in 142 career games.

Wagner, meanwhile, is also in his third season, but because the Wizards declined his fourth-year option last offseason, is set for free agency this summer. He entered the league touted for his floor-spacing, but is shooting 30.2 percent from behind the arc in his career. A 6-foot-11 center, he fills a role as an energy big off the bench.

Gafford, drafted by the Bulls' old front office regime in the second round of the 2019 draft, fell in and out of favor with head coach Billy Donovan, ultimately seeing his minutes average drop from his rookie season. He averaged 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 31 appearances and will look for a fresh start with the Wizards.

So, too, will Chandler Hutchison, the Bulls' No. 22 overall pick in 2018. Hutchison hasn't played since Feb. 5 for personal reasons. His Bulls tenure ends with 79 games played across three seasons and averages of 5.8 points and four rebounds.
