The NBA Board of Governors has reportedly ratified its 22-team return-to-play proposal.
Almost in tandem with that announcement, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the NBA Lottery and NBA Draft have officially been rescheduled — to Aug. 25 and Oct. 15, respectively.
Save that Aug. 25 date as one to watch for the Bulls. Not too many times in NBA history has a team had the chance to secure the No. 7 overall pick three years in a row. Only the Bulls.
Here's the rest of a potential schedule breakdown, via Shams Charania of The Athletic:
That is a dizzying turnaround. If the eventual NBA Finals goes to seven games (a potential Game 7 has reportedly been slated for Oct. 12), we could have a champion crowned, a draft executed and free agency all but resolved in just over a week's time. Then, training camps... Two weeks later?? Then the season starting less than a month after that.
I get wanting to squeeze the calendar for as many games as possible, given revenue lost in a truncated, now fan-less 2019-20 campaign. But, lord, is this ambitious.
NBA
Regardless, Bulls fan's focus can now shift to an offseason unprecedented in length, with many storylines to watch — from draft prep, to a possible coaching change, to further front office evaluation and overall.
