Tom Thibodeau fired by the Timberwolves

The TimberBulls are slowly being broken up.

First, Jimmy Butler got traded out of Minnesota. Now Tom Thibodeau has been fired. The news was first reported by Shams Charania before the Timberwolves made it official later on Sunday.

Thibodeau was at the heart of Butler's exit early this season and the Timberwolves have been under .500 most of the season. Minnesota is currently 19-21, two games out of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves have actually won two straight, including a win earlier on Sunday against the LeBron-less Lakers. Minnesota raced out to a 35-19 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 108-86 win. Hours after the game went final, Thibodeau is ousted.

How about some more ex-Bulls coach fun while the news is still fresh? Recently fired Fred Hoiberg could be in consideration to take over.

The TimberBulls are dead. Long live the TimberBulls?

This is something NBC Sports' Tom Haberstroh mentioned as a possibility when Hoiberg was fired by the Bulls:

A league source close to the situation told NBC Sports that Hoiberg could be a candidate to take over in Minnesota where he’d be reunited with owner Glen Taylor.

K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reported that Hoiberg's preference is to stay in the NBA as opposed to going back to college.
