Car crash fatal for Barrington Hills man, injures former Bears Caleb Hanie, Joey LaRocque

Former Bears Caleb Hanie and Joey LaRocque were injured in an auto accident that killed the driver of the car Monday night in Barrington Hills.

Salvatore DiMucci, 35, was driving Hanie and LaRocque when his car struck a tree and crashed into a ditch around 9:45. DiMucci was pronounced dead at Str. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

Hanie and LaRocque were taken to Advocate Good Sheperd Hosptial near Lake Barrington. Hanie suffered hand injuries that are not life-threatening, Barrington Hills police chief Richard Semelsberger said. LaRocque was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

Hanie signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He spent three more seasons as the Bears backup behind Jay Cutler from 2009 to 2011. He made four starts in 2011, going 0-4 with three touchdowns and nine interceptions. Hanie spent a season in Denver in 2012 and a season in Cleveland in 2013, but did not see the field in the regualar season.

LaRocque was selected by the Bears in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He appeared in 14 games for the Bears in 2009.
