According to Comcast SportsNet's David Kaplan, the Cubs are moving towards finalizing a deal for free agent reliever and former Cub, Kerry Wood.

Citing his relationship with general manager Jim Hendry and that he's made Chicago his permanent home, the Cubs are expected to finalize the deal by the end of the week.

Since leaving the Cubs after the 2008 season, Wood has pitched with the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees.

After being traded to the Yankees at the 2010 trade deadline, Wood pitched in 24 games covering 26 innings with a 0.69 ERA and 10 holds. In eight innings of playoff relief, Wood recorded three holds with a 2.25 ERA.
