Woodruff, 27, had a breakout 2019 campaign, posting a 3.62 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 22 starts. He missed two months post-All-Star break after straining his left oblique in July.
The Cubs have fared well against Woodruff in his three-season career. The righty holds a 6.75 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in five games (three starts) against the North Siders, allowing 11 earned runs on 17 hits in 14 2/3 innings.
In one start against the Cubs last season, Woodruff surrendered four earned runs on six hits in four innings. The Cubs lost that April 5 matchup 13-10.
