In four of his five big league seasons, Willson Contreras has been Jon Lester's personal catcher.
That streak appears to be ending entering 2021, as Lester has agreed to a one-year deal with the Nationals following six seasons on the North Side.
Contreras took over as Lester's personal catcher following David Ross' retirement post-2016. His athleticism and big arm behind the plate helped control opponents' run game with Lester, known to not throw many pickoff attempts, on the mound.

After news of Lester's departure, Contreras posted a heartfelt farewell to the left-hander Tuesday on Twitter.
Cubs fans will miss seeing the battery working together at the Friendly Confines next season.
