MLB players still express concern over whether baseball can return in 2020

In a normal world, Cubs fans would have their focus on Washington D.C. this weekend, as David Ross’ club would be playing a four-game series against the World Series champion Nationals.
Instead, we look to the nation’s capital for news of when our lives will get back to if not normal, what normal will be for all of us in the post-COVID-19 world.

There have been many plans floated around of how Major League Baseball salvage at least some of the 2020 schedule, including having all games being played in Arizona and Florida, with teams being quarantined in hotels for the duration of the season.

But would the players go for a plan like this?

In an interview with NBC Sports, Angels superstar Mike Trout expressed some doubt. He said he plans to be with his wife for the birth of their first child, who is due this summer. Trout wondered if, after leaving the club, would he have to be put in quarantine for two weeks once he returned before being allowed to be back with his teammates.

That is just one of the numerous obstacles that will have to be overcome in order for baseball to return in 2020. In our latest Cubs Talk Podcast, David Kaplan and Gordon Wittenmyer discuss the latest on what it will take for baseball to be played this year.
