VOTE: Viewers' Choice Game Of The Week

Who wants it more?

We are putting High School Lites, Chicagoland's top prep sports show, in the hands of area football fans in our "Viewers' Choice Game of the Week." Fans will get the chance to pick one game that the @NBCSPreps crew will cover on Friday night. We will send our cameras to the game that gets the most votes; highlights and postgame reaction of that game will appear on that night's "High School Lites" broadcast at 11 p.m. The show also live streams at www.nbcsportschicago.com/watchlive. High School Lites will also have broadcast replays at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. the following Saturday.

Week 9 is “Bubble Week” for many teams fighting to stay on the right side of the postseason bubble. Who moves on? Whose bubble will burst? Will Wauconda advance to the playoffs after finishing 2-7 last year? Or will Grant end their season on a winning note? Schaumburg and Fremd both stand at 4-4. The winner goes to the postseason. The winner stays home for November. Zion-Benton hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2003. A win over Libertyville gets them there. But for the Wildcats, this ‘is’ their playoff game. Who wins in the North Suburban conference? We’ll send our cameras to one of the following:

Grant at Wauconda, 7:15 p.m.

Schaumburg at Fremd, 7:30 p.m.

Libertyville at Zion-Benton, 7:30 p.m.

Biggest storylines: Can the Vikings bounce back strong after a rough 2017 season? Fremd will play on a new turf playing surface this fall.

Names to watch this season: LB Luke Bilek and RB/S Nick Rattin

Biggest holes to fill: The Vikings will welcome back 11 starters (six offense, five defense), but will need to replace some depth on the defensive line from a season ago.

EDGY's Early Take: It's rare to see Fremd coming off a 1-8 regular season. The last time Fremd posted that mark? 1998. From there, then-head coach Mike Donatuci went on to make 16 straight IHSA playoff appearances. While the Vikings still have much to prove, they will rely on a core of returning starters. A big key will be finding more consistency and production on offense, something the Vikings struggled with week in and week out last season.

Biggest storyline: Can the Red Raiders make a deeper run in Class 8A?

Names to watch this season: senior QB Eric Mooney, senior LB Charlie Zornow

Biggest holes to fill: The Red Raiders will need to reload on the offensive line this summer with just one returning starter back in senior Joey Wilson.

EDGY's early take: Huntley made a nice run under Zimolzak in Class 8A last postseason and several key starters return this fall, including All-State quarterback Mooney. The Red Raiders program has continued to make impressive, steady progress on the field. One of these days, sooner rather than later, Huntley will challenge for a Class 8A state title.
