While a pair of Major League Baseball games were postponed Monday due to the large number of COVID-19 cases on the Miami Marlins' roster, a more traditional baseball enemy postponed Monday night's game between the White Sox and Cleveland Indians: rain.

The White Sox fourth game of the shortened 2020 season was washed away Monday night in Cleveland. The two teams will play a doubleheader Tuesday beginning at 2:40 p.m. Central.

The White Sox will keep their rotation as scheduled, with Dylan Cease starting the first game against Aaron Civale and Carlos Rodón starting Game 2 against Adam Plutko.

With players spending much of "Summer Camp" talking about the importance of a strong start to the 60-game schedule, the three-game set with the Indians looms as a potentially important one for the White Sox in the race for the AL Central crown after they won just once during the season-opening three-game set against the Minnesota Twins.

Whether manager Rick Renteria is back with the team Tuesday remains to be seen. General manager Rick Hahn announced Monday that Renteria will not manage while he awaits the results of precautionary testing conducted in Cleveland.

The extra day might also allow time for Eloy Jiménez to return to the lineup. He was removed from Sunday's game against the Twins with light-headedness after crashing into the outfield wall in the first inning. He was not in the White Sox starting lineup Monday. White Sox bench coach Joe McEwing said Jiménez was feeling better and the team was monitoring its left fielder.
