Josh Richardson compares Embiid and Simmons to all-time great breakfast cereals

You know the NBA world is getting really bored and cabin fever is hitting hard when one of the most respected journalist in the game is asking Josh Richardson to compare his teammates to breakfast cereal.

To be fair, the question isn't pulled out of thin air. Josh is a well-documented cereal afficianado.

So when Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic got J-Rich on the video chat on Wednesday, he asked him what cereals his Philadelphia Sixers teammates Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons would compare to.

"If Joel [Embiid] was a cereal, he'd be Cheerios," Richardson said. "Because he's just like the baseline of everything. You have to have a box of classics. Joel is like, you have to have him. When he's in there, he's a game changer. When he's not, something doesn't feel right."

"Ben [Simmons] would be Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Everybody understands he's one of the best. You can't go wrong with it. When Ben's out there, you know what you're going to get from him, almost triple-double numbers. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is like the triple-double of cereals, honestly. It's one of the best."

"Me? Cinnamon Toast Crunch CHURROS. Look, Ben is like the leader, the guard, the guy. Then I'm like the next up. I'm the support factor."

"The classics are there, I'm like the supplementary, hold-it-together piece," Richardson said.

His explanations are sound and tough to argue with. It's so weird, but it makes so much sense.

I feel like Mike Scott would be Honeycomb. I don't know, I miss NBA basketball very much.
