Eagles Mailbag: Trading down, Mailata, Jalen Mills' swag

We’ve reached the bottom of the mailbag barrel.

Part 1 is here.

Part 2 is here.

Part 3 is here:

Thanks for the kind words about the pod. It’s been a blast doing them.

This is a really hard question to answer without knowing how the draft falls 1-24. Without knowing that, how can I really answer? The best possibility for the Eagles is that a quarterback falls and is available at 25 and a team wants to jump up to take him. That’s what happened last year with the Ravens and Lamar Jackson, but the No. 32 pick is a prime spot for a trade back because teams want to get their quarterback. Getting them with that first-round fifth-year option is important too.

Last year, the Eagles traded No. 32 and 132 to Baltimore for 52 and 125. The way the Eagles would trade back is if they think the top player on their board will be available later. Or if they have like three guys close and think they can move back and still get one of them.

But I actually think this would be a prime year to move up. I think there’s a good chance a top-notch talent like Christian Wilkins will be on the board. A modest trade up could potentially yield a much better player than they’d get at 25.

I get more questions about Jordan Mailata than any other player on this roster. The fanbase is excited by him and I get it. In 2019, if Mailata starts, that means a couple things: 1. Jason Peters or Lane Johnson got hurt, 2. Mailata passed Halapoulivaati Vaitai on the depth chart. I don’t think either of these things are out of the question.

This is the part, though, where I remind you that Mailata hasn’t even appeared in an NFL game yet. But I’m on board the hype train too. I think he’s got a future in this league and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start a game in 2019.

Danny! I don’t know if I’d be able to rock that. Although, I think the Jalen Mills on Jalen Mills’ shirt, should have been wearing a Jalen Mills shirt. Fashion inception.

The Green Goblin has been rocking some unique threads recently. This one is unquestionably my fav.

I joked if I got this vest, I’d have to put a five-spot in that little window.

I agree. The Jets’ new uniforms are indeed bad. They look like a CFL/AFL team to me. And I like their old unis.

As for the Eagles, they aren’t planning on new uniforms. As far as I know, they like their midnight green and current design. Maybe you’re talking about the kelly green thing. I wrote about that last month (see story), so I don’t want to get into it again.
