Eagles safety Rodney McLeod on Wednesday won the prestigious 2022 NFLPA Alan Page Community Award.

The annual award from the NFLPA recognizes one player each year for their dedication to community work in their team’s city.

McLeod, 31, was named the winner after his peers voted.

With the award, the NFLPA will be donating $100,000 to McLeod’s Change Our Future Foundation.

"I am humbled to receive such a prestigious award," McLeod said in a statement. "This award is truly all about the community; and when I hear the word 'community,' unity, hope, and love also come to mind."

McLeod is the fifth Eagles player to win the award following Chris Long (2018), Malcolm Jenkins (2017), Brian Dawkins (2009) and Troy Vincent (2003).

According to the NFLPA, the Alan Page Award, “recognizes one player who demonstrates a profound dedication to positively impacting his team’s city and communities across the country, following in the spirit of the Pro Football Hall of Famer and social pioneer for whom the award is named.”

In December, McLeod’s foundation held its inaugural Art & Sole Sneaker Ball, raising over $205,000 to updated STEM and Black history curriculum in local schools. In addition the event gathered 150 toys and 250 pairs of shoes to donate to needy families.

In the fall, McLeod pledged $20,000 toward educational programs, focus groups and curriculum to Constitution High School and Hill-Freedman World Academy.

McLeod co-founded his foundation, Change Our Future, back in 2020 with his wife Erika. The foundation has four pillars of success: Youth development, education, health and wellness and community empowerment.

“I hope stories like mine will inspire others to pour back into their communities, forming leaders of change,” McLeod said. “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

McLeod joined the Eagles as a free agent back in 2016 and has played the last six years in Philadelphia.
