The USFL's Stars reveal their new mascot and it's … something

Philadelphia professional sports teams have a strong stable of mascots. The Phillie Phanatic has long been the best mascot for any team, any sport. Gritty has only existed for a little more than three years and he is an international icon already. Franklin, Swoop and Phang are also very strong representatives for their teams.

The newest Philadelphia pro sports team, the USFL Stars, will play its first-ever game this Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama. Today, they revealed their as-yet-unnamed mascot.

Not sure what to make of this thing. I understand how difficult it is to anthropomorphize a star. But what is this? It’s… kind of cute, while at the same time possessing some diabolical traits. Like I feel like this character would dazzle your kids with some antics, but you should still check for your wallet afterward.

The team wants the fans to name the mascot, which may prove difficult. Some of the answers from social media:

We wish the Stars – and their mascot – all the best in their inaugural season.
