General manager Chuck Fletcher joked that his scouts are "always clamoring to move up" in the NHL draft.
Fletcher made his scouts happy again Wednesday by trading the Flyers' 202nd and 209th overall picks (both seventh-rounders) in the 2020 NHL draft to acquire a fifth-round selection at 135th overall. The Flyers used the pick on Elliot Desnoyers, a 5-foot-10, 183-pound winger who plays in the QMJHL.
The Flyers also traded up to take winger Zayde Wisdom in the fourth round.

In 2019-20, Desnoyers played on a dominant and deep Moncton Wildcats team that led the QMJHL with 101 points at 50-13-1. The 18-year-old put up 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) and a plus-13 mark in 61 games.
Ahead of this season, Desnoyers was traded to the Halifax Mooseheads.
"I'm a big two-way player," he said Wednesday in a video interview. "Offense and defense are a big part of my game. I'm a guy that can compete everywhere and I give it all out on the ice every day."
Desnoyers, who was the 175th-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting, wants to improve his speed. He certainly has skill and offensive upside as his role grows in the QMJHL.

Desnoyers said he had some really good pre-draft interviews with the Flyers.
The Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, native knows a good movie or two, as well.
"When I first think of Philadelphia, I think about the movies 'Rocky,'" he said with a smile. "I grew up watching them with my brothers and they've always been a big part of when I was a child. When I think about Philadelphia, I think about the Flyers, for sure. I always watched Montreal when I was young and I remember watching the tough Flyers and I love how they compete hard and how hard they work every day. It's great to be drafted there."
