The schedule is about to get busy for the Flyers.
Sunday begins a stretch of four preseason games in four days, which includes three trips to New York.
To open the exhibition slate, the Flyers will send a group of 20 players to take on the Islanders, while the remaining 35 will stay back in Voorhees, New Jersey, for a scrimmage at 8:30 a.m.
"We've got four games in a row here and the benefit of that is we'll be able to see different guys in some different situations," Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said Saturday. "We should be able to see a lot of players in exhibition games, which is a real positive for us."
The Flyers play eight preseason games total and the first four will be used to profile the younger players surrounded by some veterans sprinkled in, which should help with the evaluation of roles and bubble players.
"We're going to try to spread our veterans through those four games and really give good opportunities to not only some of the younger players that haven't played NHL games before, but also some of the younger players that have and can grow their role a little bit," Hakstol said.
