Flyers vs. Bruins, Game 12 of 2021 season: Live stream, storylines, game time and more

After their penalty-ridden collapse Wednesday night on national television, the Flyers (7-2-2) will try to respond Friday when they host the Bruins (7-1-2) again.

The winner of the game will be in first place of the East Division entering Saturday.

• Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault couldn't help but laugh Friday morning when he was asked about his team's game plan against David Pastrnak. In the Flyers' 4-3 overtime loss Wednesday night to the Bruins, the 24-year-old star gave Vigneault's club fits with a hat trick and four points.

Pastrnak makes up one the best lines in hockey with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.

"I hope he has an off night because the performance he put on in the last game was one of the best that I've seen in a while," Vigneault said. "He was part of eight scoring chances, four 5-on-5 — that's a huge number. That line obviously was a very effective line. We're going to try and do a better job against them tonight, but it's not easy — I mean, you're talking about three elite players, three All-Stars, and they make it very challenging for you."

Bergeron also had a four-point game (one goal, three assists) against the Flyers and took 26 faceoffs.

• Three of the Flyers' four losses have come against Boston. The Flyers and Bruins have each scored four goals over the first two periods in their three matchups, but Boston holds a staggering 9-4 edge in the third period.

The Flyers have blown a pair of two-goal leads in the final stanza against the Bruins.

• Carter Hart left Friday's morning skate early during the team's power play work near the end of practice. Alex Lyon had to skate down to the opposite end to fill in for Hart.

Hart did not appear to be labored as he walked to the dressing room. Vigneault spoke prior to morning skate, so there was no update on why Hart had to exit early. It could have been something as harmless as an equipment issue.

Brian Elliott was already slated to start Friday night. To be placed on the roster and available to play, a taxi squad player must be recalled no later than 5 p.m. ET the day of the game. If Lyon is not called up before 5 p.m. ET to be Elliott's backup tonight, then that's a clear sign Hart is fine and his departure from skate was nothing serious.
