The Eagles were back on the field Friday without running back Ryan Mathews as they prepare to face the Packers at home on Monday night.

Mathews (MCL sprain) has now missed practice Thursday and Friday with an injury he suffered early in the second quarter against the Seahawks.

Earlier this week, head coach Doug Pederson said if Mathews was able to play, it would likely be in a backup role. That means rookie Wendell Smallwood and reserve Kenjon Barner could be in line for extra carries this weekend.

Defensive end Connor Barwin (knee bruise) returned to practice Friday after sitting out Thursday. He was a full participant.

Still missing were right tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai (MCL sprain) and Steven Means (illness).

Darren Sproles (fractured seventh rib), Terrence Brooks (hamstring) and Leodis McKelvin (concussion) all practiced as full participants for the second straight day on Friday.

McKelvin said his concussion suffered on Sunday was the first one he's had since high school. This one wasn't very significant compared to those, McKelvin said.
