Nick Castellanos likely out of Phillies' lineup for another week

MIAMI – Nick Castellanos was eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday.

Didn't happen.

The Phillies' right fielder is making good progress recovering from a mild oblique strain, but he's not ready to return to action, and, according to manager Rob Thomson, probably won't be for the remainder of this road trip, which runs through Sunday.

Castellanos is hitting off a tee and against soft toss. He's doing running and throwing drills, but there are more steps to cover before he's cleared to play.

"We still have to do batting practice and high-velocity stuff," Thomson said.

Castellanos injured himself on a swing September 2 in San Francisco.

It's not clear whether Castellanos would require at-bats in a minor-league rehab assignment before returning. They would be there if he felt he needed them.

Lefty hitting Nick Maton started in right field in place of Castellanos on Tuesday night against Miami right-hander Sandy Alcantara.
