The NBA playoffs pit the league’s biggest stars against one another to see who triumphs, but injuries unfortunately can alter matchups.

Philadelphia's Joel Embiid, Miami's Tyler Herro and Phoenix’s Chris Paul are among the most notable players dealing with injuries in the second round.

Let’s take a look at key injuries for teams in the 2023 NBA Playoffs:

Western Conference

Phoenix Suns

G Chris Paul (groin): Paul left Game 2 against Denver on Monday in the third quarter with left groin tightness and did not return. He is expected to be reevaluated in a week and the Suns are now preparing to be without him for Games 3 through 5.

Eastern Conference

Miami Heat

G Tyler Herro (hand): Herro broke the middle and ring finger on his right hand towards the end of the first half against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the first round while diving for a loose ball. He said he expects to miss four-to-six weeks.

G Victor Oladipo (knee): Oladipo will miss the rest of the postseason after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in Miami’s Game 3 first-round win.

F Jimmy Butler (ankle): Butler left Game 1 on Sunday against the Knicks early with a sprained ankle as Miami held on for the win, but the star forward was ruled out for Tuesday’s Game 2 in New York. He returned in Miami's dominant 105-86 Game 3 win on Saturday.

New York Knicks

F Julius Randle (ankle): Randle left Game 5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers last week with a left ankle injury late in the second quarter. He missed Game 1 against the Heat before returning in Game 2.

Philadelphia 76ers

C Joel Embiid (knee): Embiid missed Game 4 of the first round for the Sixers, where the team finished off a sweep of the Nets. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark reported that Embiid has a sprained LCL and he missed Game 1 vs. Boston. Embiid will officially return to the floor for Game 2 on Wednesday night.
