Markelle Fultz on 'Trust the Process': 'I thought I came up with it'

Markelle Fultz on 'Trust the Process': 'I thought I came up with it'

The Process. What does it even mean at this point?

Some actually believe it has lost all of it's meaning. Others believe the Process will never end. It's also a nickname Joel Embiid gave to himself. And now it's even a beer.

Whatever you think of the slogan mostly attributed to the Sam Hinkie-era Philadelphia 76ers, "Trust the Process" has become a rallying cry of sorts for the team's fans.

Be patient, do things the right way, and results will come.

That's a sentiment projected No. 1 overall pick in tonight's draft, Markelle Fultz, has had to ascribe to his entire life. He got cut from his varsity team as a sophomore at Dematha Catholic, so he needed to have faith in a process.

In fact, speaking at the NBA Draft media availability on Wednesday, Fultz said that for a while he thought he came up with the slogan long before the Sixers ever did.

"I've been saying 'trust the process' because -- I didn't even know about Philly -- but me, I got cut from JV so, staying at the same high school, the big thing we used to say back home was to 'trust the process' and not transfer schools," he said. "I didn't really know about the saying 'trust the process' with Philly until maybe my senior year heading into college. I saw the tweets about it and all that."

"I thought I came up with it at first," Fultz said.

And maybe he was right? Who knows. It doesn't really matter. As long as the Process is trusted, I suppose.

What an honor for Mike McKenna.

Not only did he get to meet Gritty Wednesday night, but he also got the Flyers' mascot to sign his mask, which sports a drawing of the fuzz ball (see story).

Looks like Gritty didn't love McKenna questioning his pregame meal — it's obviously 10 plates of pasta … the guy needs fuel.

McKenna is the Flyers' seventh goalie of the season, while the Flyers are the seventh team of McKenna's career.

Now he'll have a special signature to always remember it.

Eagles fan mad about loss allegedly put girlfriend's dog in microwave

Eagles fans have been known to take their frustrations out on horses in the past, but now we can add cruelty to canines to the long list of strange behavior by Philadelphia sports fans.

Kirsten Gaskins was arrested on Sunday evening at a hotel in Hanover Township and has been charged with simple assault, harassment, cruelty to animals, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gaskins was at the hotel as "a getaway" from Philadelphia with her girlfriend. She was drinking while watching the Eagles game against the Saints and allegedly became angry once the Saints won, according to police. Gaskins allegedly struck the victim in the face multiple times before threatening to harm her Pomeranian.

Gaskins was not present when police arrived but when she returned and they entered the room they found the dog inside of the microwave. The microwave was never turned on and the dog was reportedly OK.

It's unclear if the Pomeranian had any rooting interest in the game. Dogs usually don't care.
