Scott Kingery featured again for Phillies after impressive debut

It looks like Scott Kingery will be a true Swiss Army knife for Gabe Kapler.

After picking up two hits in his major league debut in Friday night's 5-4 win in 11 innings over the Braves (see observations), Kingery will play again in the series finale. A second baseman in the minor leagues, Kingery will play shortstop and hit sixth Saturday, replacing J.P. Crawford in the lineup. Kingery started two games at shortstop last season for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

Kingery filled in for Maikel Franco at third base in his debut, and with Cesar Hernandez still in the leadoff spot, he'll have to wait a little longer before he plays at his natural position.

Jorge Alfaro will make his first start of the season, after sitting in place of Andrew Knapp the first two games. Alfaro saw his first action late Friday, taking over for Knapp behind the plate in the 10th inning and striking out in the 11th.

Aaron Altherr will start for the third consecutive game, while Nick Williams will sit for a second straight outing. Altherr has one hit in his first seven at-bats.

While Crawford hit ninth Friday for the Phillies, Kapler returns to a more traditional lineup, with Alfaro batting eighth and pitcher Vince Velasquez hitting ninth in his first start.
