Publicist Greg Nared told GOLF CHANNEL that Wie is still recovering from a recent training accident in which she injured her left wrist. He said that contrary to at least one published report the wrist is not broken.
But, he added, we want to make sure Michelle is completely pain free before she starts playing again.
The current estimate out of the Wie camp is that she will be able to start chipping and putting next week but unable to play full swing golf for another two to four weeks. And even then, Nared said, theres a question of whether her game would be ready to play in a major championship.
Nared said Wie is eager to return to playing and is aware that the healing process will be a strong challenge to her patience.
Wie missed getting into a playoff at last years Kraft Nabisco when she was unable to get up and down from just off the green on the 72nd hole.
