ORLANDO, Fla. – With one week remaining to qualify for the Masters, a number of players received a boost with their play at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Matt Jones, who closed with a 68 to finish alone in third place just two strokes behind champion Matt Every, jumped from 79th in the Official World Golf Ranking to 61st. If he cracks the top 50 next week at the Valero Texas Open he will qualify for the Masters.
Harris English didn’t move quite as much following a pedestrian weekend (72-75), but his tie for 29th place kept him at 52nd in the ranking and he’s also scheduled to play next week in San Antonio.
Paul Casey is the only other player on the Masters bubble at 46th in the world, but he missed the cut at Bay Hill and is not playing the Texas Open.
