PHOENIX – With the tax filing deadline approaching, all of a sudden Amy Anderson’s getting a lot of questions about write-offs.
Anderson now enjoys the rare distinction of being both an LPGA pro and a certified public accountant.
After posting a 2-under-par 70 Thursday at the JTBC Founders Cup, Anderson confirmed she passed the final stage of a CPA exam last week. She graduated from North Dakota State as an accounting major.

Anderson, 22, said preparing for a CPA exam is less daunting than preparing to play a professional golf tournament.
“Golf is always more difficult,” she said. “I think studying is actually pretty easy, compared to golf, because the harder you work at it, the smarter you get. Golf doesn’t always work that way. So, honestly, I thought that studying was a good reprieve from golf. It was almost relaxing.”
Anderson is a second-year LPGA pro who set an NCAA record, winning 20 collegiate events while at North Dakota State. She was the U.S. Junior Girls’ Amateur champion in 2009. She finished 80th on the LPGA money list as a rookie.
“I have made so many new friends since I passed my CPA, and they all need taxes done,” Anderson cracked.
