PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Emiliano Grillo and Chez Reavie will meet in the final group at the Web.com Tour Championship with more than just this week’s trophy at stake.
The duo will also be playing for the top spot on the Web.com Tour Finals money list, a distinction that carries with it fully-exempt status and a spot in the Players Championship.
Grillo began the day with a one-shot lead, and he extended his advantage to two with a bogey-free 67. The Argentine seeks his first win in the U.S., and to top the money list he would need to both win the event and have Reavie finish third or worse.

“I know Chez is playing good, so he’s ruining my party at the moment,” Grillo said. “I’m going to try to get my win tomorrow. If he plays well, then he deserves to win it more than I do. It’s going to be an interesting day tomorrow.”
Reavie won the second Finals event and entered this week in the top spot on the money list. He sits alone in second place through 54 holes, two shots off the pace, and controls his own destiny in the money race. Reavie will finish No. 1 with a three-way tie for second or better, even if Grillo wins.
For the former PGA Tour member, the lure of fully-exempt status is a sizeable incentive.
“It’s everything. It’s not being in the reshuffle category, it’s picking my schedule next year, it’s being in the Players to come back here next year,” he said. “He’s playing great golf, I’m playing great golf, so we’ll go out tomorrow and see who can make the most birdies.”
