AUGUSTA, Ga. – Conditions for the second round of the Masters will continue to be a challenge for the players, with gusts expected to top 25-30 mph on Friday at Augusta National.
That’s slightly easier than Thursday, when the wind gusted to 40 mph and the first-round scoring average was 74.978, the highest since 2007.
After a wet start to Masters week, Friday will again have plenty of sunshine. The weekend looks even better, with highs in the low-70s and light winds, which is ideal conditions for scoring.
Players and caddies will have their hands full trying to judge the direction of the wind on Friday. It is expected to blow out of a slightly different direction (northwest) than Thursday (west).
Only 11 players broke par on Day 1.
