NORTON, Mass. – On paper Brandt Snedeker doesn’t look like a man just trying to get through the season. Rounds of 66-64 have left him with the clubhouse lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship and his confidence on Saturday was undeniable.
“I felt like this has been coming. I played really well in Greensboro (T-8). The missed cut last week (The Barclays) was an anomaly, but I feel good,” Snedeker said.
Good, however, is relative. Truth is Snedeker has been hampered since the U.S. Open with an inflamed left hip. Although he’s had an MRI and seen numerous specialist he’s still not sure what is wrong.
“It hurts when I walk and I can’t run, but the swing is fine,” said Snedeker, who plans to see another specialist back home in Nashville, Tenn., after next week’s BMW Championship. “Guess it’s teaching me I was firing my hip to fast (on his down swing).”
Snedeker is 53rd on the FedEx Cup points list and is a virtual lock to advance to the BMW, while a win this week could move him as high as second place on the points list.
