LPGA pro Its Bivens-like cold in South Korea

The weather’s going to be a factor in the LPGA Hana Bank Championship at Sky 72 Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea.

That’s apparent in the tweets coming from LPGA pros over there.

The most poignant came from Sophie Gustafson.

“Burrrr,” Gustafson wrote. “Haven’t felt this kind of chill since I sat next to Bivens.”

That would be former LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens. Gustafson is the former wife of former LPGA commissioner Ty Votaw.

The chill in the air appears to suit at least one LPGA pro.

“Prob(ably) one of few that is actually enjoying this cold weather in Korea,” Anna Nordqvist tweeted. “Reminds me of playing golf in the winters back home in Sweden!:)”

LPGA pros are adjusting to a dramatic change in weather from last week’s Sime Darby event in Malaysia. Tour pros played in sweltering temperatures there that reached into the 90s. After making the trip north to Incheon this week, they were greeted by temperatures that reached freezing Monday night. The high for Wednesday is forecast to be 56 degrees.
