Louis Oosthuizen will be sidelined for at least two weeks after having cortisone injections in his lower back.
As a result, the 2010 British Open champion will miss two of his usual stops, this week’s South African Open and next week’s Dunhill Links Championship, but hopes to return for the Dec. 5-8 Nedbank Golf Challenge.
“My back has been sore during the last few tournaments,” he wrote on his website, “and it has been frustrating. I’m hopeful the injections will free up the problem and enable it to go away completely.”
Oosthuizen already missed two months this season because of neck, back and leg injuries. Since returning to action in September, he has gritted his way through five more events, finishing no better than 15th (HSBC Champions).
